Meditative Surfaces is a group exhibition that explores four different expressions
of meditative imagery within contemporary fine art. The exhibition brings
together the work of Painter; Charles Gniech, Mixed-media Artist; Deanna Krueger,
Photographer; Maggie Meiners, and Painter; Rebecca Moy. Each Artist is inspired
by his or her own--very different--individual passions. The inspirations include:
An obsession with the meditative qualities of the prehistoric megaliths found
throughout Great Britain; The symbolic meaning and manipulation of X-Ray and
MRI diagnostic imagery; Self-analysis through photography and the photographic
process; and The examination of memory through abstract form.
The work produced by this group of Artists, is assembled to encourage audience
introspection. Like that of Agnes Martin and Mark Rothko, the imagery conveys the
serene qualities of meditation and inner peace. The exhibition is revised and updated
with each new venue.
